Week 17: Monday 3rd Feburary 2014
CP3
DEADLINE
Researching and understanding the context of my
work is something I recently have got to grips with. After my work placement at
Harvey Nichols it made me realise working as a freelancer is something I want
to avoid, as there is an uncertainty of income and working with a different
team on a weekly basis. Although Visual Merchandising is something I want to
pursue as a career perhaps at management level would be more ideal, with
research and organisation being high priorities.
…But currently for my own practice, which is installation based smaller
independent art galleries would be suited. I have researched, and only in this
last week made contacts with these two art galleries, from ‘The Old Police
Station’ in London, which holds installations in the disused
prison cells to ‘Louise T Blouin Foundation’ which is a non- profit
organisation which holds art installations, film, photography and media
exhibitions.

I am inspired by many artists like Rachel Whiteread her work is gallery based and has a concept of lost memories and the unknown. Ultimately my work is for a small independent art gallery context, where audience experience and place and space come into play. I am currently waiting to hear back from the two in dependant galleries I have contacted.
